It's Get Online Week!

Mon, 13/10/2014 - 13:44 -- Victoria Lawson

The eighth national Get Online Week kicks off today, and it’s set to be seven days of fabulous events, fun activities, and first times online.

The campaign is run by Tinder Foundation, and will see thousands of Get Online Week events take place during October - from Post Offices to mosques, cafes to community centres, supermarkets to town halls, UK online centres to libraries - anyone and everyone can get a helping hand to get to the grips with the internet, whatever their level of skill or confidence.

Helen Milner, Chief Executive at Tinder Foundation says:  “Get Online Week is a great time for everyone interested in digital skills and digital inclusion to get together, and really focus on raising the profile of these issues on a national level. But it’s activity at a local level which changes behaviour and ultimately changes lives. It’s local events which inspire people to see what they could do online, and local event holders welcoming and supporting them which then keeps them coming back, and starting to really make the most of technology.

“Good luck to everyone out in the communities this week shouting about the wonders of the internet, persuading the reluctant to stop for a chat, and helping the nervous have a go at something new. Let’s make this our biggest and best Get Online Week yet!”
